The Gruffalo at Fineshade Woods

Gruffalo

The Gruffalo is celebrating his 15th birthday this year.

The Gruffalo, the well-loved children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, is celebrating its 15th birthday this year. Many children have enjoyed the story of little Mouse who cleverly tricks all the animals in the deep dark wood, including the Gruffalo himself. It’s one of Little Miss’s favourite books at the moment, and I have to say, it’s one that I don’t actually mind reading over and over and over again, as you do with toddlers!

Gruffalo’s Child trail at Fineshade Woods: until February 2015

Following on from the successful Gruffalo trails at Fineshade Woods over spring and summer, visitors to Fineshade will be able to follow the Gruffalo’s Child activity trail over autumn and winter.

Like the Gruffalo trail previously, the Gruffalo’s Child trail will lead children and families through the forest using activity boards to help them discover nature and woods at a time of the year when forests are at their most beautiful.

In addition, there will be activity packs available for £2, which will include a foraging bag, a fun-packed activity leaflet, a colouring-in sheet and a special Gruffalo’s Child sticker. These sound a bit better than the activity card for the Gruffalo trail, which wasn’t at all necessary for the trail, and Little Miss just scribbled all over hers.

The Gruffalo Child’s trail starts 3 October until end of February 2015.
